The Norwegian Embassy participates in youth project in Sarajevo.

The organisation ”Infohouse Sarajevo” organised on October 9th a project called ”Volontiraj-kreditiraj”( Volunteer-Credit). The project was arranged in 20 Bosnia and Herzegovina cities under the name “Social Day” and enabled more than 2000 pupils from 100 Bosnian high schools to work one day in firms, institutions and NGOs.

This is the third year in a row that Infohouse gives young people in BiH the opportunity to make contacts and relations with potential future employers. Dzenana Aladjuz director of Infohouse stated in a press conference that this years Social Day employed young people in state institutions, embassies and private companies. The students were paid 15 KM each for their efforts and the money earned was placed in a “Social Day Fund”. On November 14th the students voted for the best projects which were awarded the prize money from the Social Day Fund.

The Norwegian Embassy was pleased to employ two young ladies: Adisa Rozajac, a senior from Dobrinja High School and Nermina Serhatic, also senior from Obala High School. Here is the report written by the girls on their stay at the Embassy:

“The Norwegian embassy in BiH is a really nice place. We expected the staff working at the embassy only to have strictly business like behaviour towards us. To our surprise the working staff at the embassy were in fact very open and friendly people, they made us feel nice and welcome. Our coordinators Irfan Turkovic and Sanja Burzic introduced us with the staff people working at the embassy. We had the opportunity to get answers to all our questions. During our stay we learned a lot about Norway as well. Facts that were unknown to us. We also had a conversation with Ambassador Mr. Jan Braathu. He told us all about his functions at the embassy and his assignment to BiH , but throughout our conversation he also gave us advice that will help us in the future regarding education and work. The embassy gave us small tasks which we completed during our stay at the embassy.”

On Saturday November 14th in Dom mladih Skenderija, more than 600 visitors could see the ideas and creative ways of over 300 students, from 82 Bosnian and Herzegovina high schools. The students presented their projects and the projects should be to the benefit of their local communities. The projects were shown in many various ways to their friends, families and representatives from other cities. The students also voted for the best projects that would later on spilt the prize pot of 25.000 KM.
