A “Court Settlement Week” was arranged this October by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC). The event was organized within the framework of the project “Improving Judicial Efficiency 2”, supported by Norway, with the objective of completing as many court cases as possible through alternative dispute resolution methods.
Throughout the week, 833 court settlements were reached, a considerable increase compared to the monthly average of settlements to date. Both the HJPC and Norway are pleased with the results.
Norway has supported projects to reform the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the end of the 1990s, and has since 2004 contributed 18 million euro to this sector. Norway will continue to support the HJPC towards achieving the highest standards of independent, accountable, transparent and efficient judiciary.
