Discussions on NATO issues in Banja Luka

Round Table on NATO/PfP Issues at AFBIH Support Command in Banja Luka.

On March 17th, the Norwegian embassy in Sarajevo, as NATO Contact Point, organized a round table discussion at Kozara Barracks in Banja Luka with officers of the Support Command of the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The puropose of the meeting was to share information and exchange experiences on the significance of NATO membership for Bosnia-Herzegovina and its armed forces.
 
Benefits such as collective security, the opportunity to promote national interests in a key international forum, strengthened international support for the reform and development of the armed forces and their control by democratic institutions, as well as opportunities for officers and soldiers to train and work multilaterally were highlighted.
 
Brigadier General Mirsad Gutic, commander of the Support Command, hosted the event. Presenting perspectives on NATO and answering questions were Norwegian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, H.E. Mr. Jan Braathu, Captain Dragan Malic (AFBIH) and Mr. Kenneth Lindsay, Political, Parliamentary and Governance Advisor at NATO
Headquarters Sarajevo. NATO HQ Sarajevo press spokesman, Mr. Derek Chappell, moderated the discussion.
