Together with Mr. Nisvet Hrnjić, the Mayor of Jajce, and Mr. Jozo Budeš, President of the Municipal Assembly of Jajce, the Ambassador visited the city’s High Vocational School (HVS) where they were given a briefing on the school’s current activities. Particular attention was given to a project conducted by NDC to promote ethnic tolerance and prevent prejudice and stigmatisation. This is also a project in which the students of the school are active participants.
NDC has been an important actor in the municipality, and the representatives from Sarajevo were praised by local authorities and citizens for their dedication and seriousness. A play had also been organised by the students, and was performed for the visitors. The play showed the creativity harbouring within the walls of the vocational school, and this was also a point Ambassador Braathu emphasized when he met a group of students afterwards:
“Whenever I travel around in BiH I am always impressed by the talented, creative and intellectual people I meet, and maybe especially the children and youth in this country. Here in Jajce, and at this school, you have an extraordinary opportunity to nourish this creativity, and if you continue to work together I am certain that you will achieve great things here in this municipality.”
Before leaving the school H. E. Mr. Braathu was given a beautiful drawing produced by one the arts students, and in the same ceremony he donated a book package of Norwegian literature to the school library. This was the second book package donated to the municipality during the day, as one had already been given to the Mayor and the city library.
