The initiators of the Nansen postal stamp are Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ambassador to Norway, Elma Kovacevic, and the Nansen Dialogue Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Nansen Dialogue Network has in close cooperation with the Nansen Academy on Lillehammer in Norway, been working for dialogue, communication and cooperation across ethnic lines in Bosnia and Herzegovina for decades already.
The launch of the Nansen-stamp is in itself the result of good cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s three postal operators, Poste Srpske, Hrvatska Posta Mostar and JP BH Posta. By virtue of connecting people and providing a basis for communication, the stamp as such plays an important symbolic role, as Director of JP BH Posta, Elma Piknjac Jaganjac, highlighted in her speech.
More than 60 guests from various organizations and authorities attended the promotion, which was opened by Ms. Vibeke Lilloe, Norway’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Lilloe praised the Nansen Dialogue Network’s long standing effort and contribution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and stressed the importance of Fridtjof Nansen’s timeless message of mutual respect, communication and cooperation across dividing lines for Bosnia and Herzegovina today.
