Grieg concert in the Bosniak Institute, Sarajevo 29. November 2007

2007 marks the year of the 100-year commemoration of the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s death. Edvard Grieg and his music are therefore on the cultural scene all over the world this year, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is no exception.

In respect to his memory the Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo will host two events.

On June 18 the Grieg year was launched in the Norwegian residence. The inauguration of the Grieg year took place in the form of a reception with representatives from the Bosnian cultural elite, musicians, people from theatre and media in addition to Norwegians working in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The second event will take place November 29. The venue for the concert is the Bosniak Institute in Sarajevo, and the music will be played and preformed by “Chamber Orchestra – 2007 – Sarajevo”, consisting of 15 persons in addition to one soprano, Melisa Hajrulahović, one pianist, Višjna Bakalar and the conductor Dario Vučić. The concert starts at 19.30 and ends at 21.00. Prior to the concert there will be given an introduction to Grieg’s music and life by the Norwegian Ambassador Mr. Jan Braathu and the Bosnian musicolog Mr. Mirsad Pinjo.
