23-year old Alexander Rybak charmed the whole of Europe and won the Eurovision Song Contest with his performance of Fairytale. “I had a story I wanted to tell, and it seems to have hit home,” an extremely happy Alexander commented.

The Norwegian Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) supported the concert initiated by the Norwegian marching band from Trondheim (Grenadekorpset). The concert attracted artists from the Western Balkan region and Norway and was held at the famous Spanish Square in Mostar.

More than four years have past since the citizens of Sarajevo last had the pleasure of enjoying musical pieces written by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Thursday, November 29th , the Royal Norwegian Embassy, in cooperation with conductor Dario Vučić, invited the “Sarajlije” to experience a program of Grieg’s music once again.

As one of the biggest events in the BiH’s cultural calendar, Sarajevo Jazz Festival, continues to push the envelope. The 2006 program does, like last year, include several Norwegian names.

Nils Petter Molvær performed 2nd November 2006 at the Solo Stage Dom Vojske Federacije on 10th Sarajevo Jazz Fest and Dhafer Youssef Group on 4th November on the Main Stage Bosanski kulturni centar.
