BIT Center visited by Schwarz-Schilling
28 May 2007 High Representative Mr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling visited, on his own initiative, the Business Innovation and Technology Center in Tuzla, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Norwegian research organisation SINTEF.
The BIT Center in Tuzla is an incubator for new businesses. The center was started in 2005 and today it houses 18 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) businesses with a total of 65 employees. The average age of the employees is 31 years, 23 % are women, and all either have a university degree or are students.
During the High Representative’s visit he got a chance to talk to the companies that are situated at the BIT Center. Schwarz-Schilling was both surprised and impressed that it has been possible to establish an advanced develpmental environment for ICT in Bosnia and Herzegovina in such a short time. He also expressed satisfaction with the general contribution of the Norwegian Government in BiH, and stated that the so called “bottom - up” approach is the most effective way to work in the country.
