Meeting in Riga, the heads of State and Government of the member countries of NATO extended an invitation to Bosnia and Herzegovina to join Partnership for Peace (PfP) and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council.
The Government of the Kingdom of Norway congratulates Bosnia and Herzegovina on the this milestone in Euro-Atlantic integration. NATO’s invitation is recognition of the considerable efforts that have been made by the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in defence reform and the good progress that has been achieved.
Norway hopes that PfP membership will encourage further reform efforts in the defence sector. It is also Norway’s expectation that authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina ensure that they provide full cooperation with ICTY so that persons indicted for war crimes are apprehended and brought to justice.
Norway’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Mr. Jan Braathu comments:
“This is truly a positive and encouraging development for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Defence Minister Radovanovic and his staff, together with government colleagues and members of the international community are to be commended for this achievement. I look forward to continuing progress in defence reform. Norway will continue to support this effort.”
