Norway has contributed with 9,5 million Norwegian Krones, or approximately 1,2 million Euros in a period over three years for the reconstruction of the Parliament façade. The building of the Parliament was heavily damaged during the war in 1992-1995 and the reconstruction of the façade is a part of the parliamentary cooperation between Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Jagland underlined the importance of Norway’s participation in the country and expressed pleasure to be back in Sarajevo.
- The Parliament is the heart of any nation building process, said Jagland.

The speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Beriz Belkić, stated at yesterday’s press conference that Jagland was informed about ongoing activities in the country and expressed gratefulness towards the Norwegian people, parliament and the embassy in Sarajevo.
- Norway is a small country with a lot of political and democratic experience, said Belkić.
Belkić also expressed support for Jagland’s candidature as the general secretary of the Council of Europe.
