CHANGE IN THE PASSPORT APPLICATION PROCEDURES AS OF 6 APRIL As of 6 April 2010 all applicants have to provide biometric data when applying for a new Norwegian passport (is also required by the police in Norway). Biometric data consists of photo, signature and two fingerprints.

Name changes and personal ID number

After biometric passports are introduced on 6 April 2010 it will no longer be possible to apply for a personal ID number and passport at the same time. All applicants must have a national ID number before lodging the passport application at the Embassy. Such application still has to be presented to Norwegian authorities via the Embassy.
