Ms Guri Rusten is Norway’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Rusten presented her credentials to Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Bakir Izetbegovic, on 14 September 2016.
Ambassador Rusten started her professional career in the Norwegian National Commission for UNESCO and has worked for various organizations, including as Secretary General for the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. Ms Rusten also worked for the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, NORAD, before joining the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. She arrived in Sarajevo directly from her previous post as Director of the Section for payroll, allowances and benefits in the Ministry.
Ms Rusten has previously been posted in Guatemala City and Warsaw. Ambassador Rusten already has knowledge of the region from her previous experience of election observation in Kosovo, FYROM, Serbia and Georgia from 1992 to 1996. She has also given a lecture and published an article on the background of the conflicts in Former Yugoslavia.
