The project involves the greenbelt in cantons Herzegovina-Neretva (nr.7) and Hercegbosnian (nr.10), on the boarder against Croatia. In cooperation with the WWF Mediterranean, WWF Norway will work on a actionplan for a sustainable development and use of the environment in the region.
It is a part of BiH’ national environment action plan (NEAP) and its plan for reduction of poverty (PRSP), and has international standards.
The project is parted into two phases:
1) Living Neretva. Toward EU- standards in the Neretva river basin.
2) Europe’s living heart. Preserving BiH’s natural treasure using EU-tools.
This project is also thought to open up for possibilities for cooperation and competence exchange toward the rest of the region (Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania).
