Nansen Dialogue Centre

The Nansen Dialogue Network has field offices throughout the Balkans. Their activities evolve around promotion of dialogue among different groups and their aim is to develop democratic practices and contribute to the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina Nansen Dialogue Centre (NDC) has three offices; in Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka. The projects carried out by NDC Sarajevo are aimed at groups who often have a crucial impact on the situation in the local community regarding the processes of democratisation, respect for human rights, tolerance and reconciliation. They work with local authorities, teaching staff, political parties, and returnee population and refugees.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the sole financial supporter of the Nansen Dialogue Network. In addition, NDC received in 2007 a small grant fund from the Norwegian Embassy for two school projects near Srebrenica. The two projects include reconstruction of classrooms and renovation of the school environment around the school “Petar Kocic” in Kravica and Konjevic Polje. The renovation and reconstruction will be done on a voluntary basis by Bosniak and Serb parents, teachers and pupils through joint activities. The objective is that the pupils, after the reconstruction, will attend joint classes in English and computer classes and thus to improve the interaction between Serbs and Bosniaks in the area.
