BIRN`s overall goal is to increase understanding of and support for the work of the war crimes trials in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the region, and to contribute to the establishment of truth and reconciliation by offering objective information on the process of war crimes trials and other pillars of transitional justice. By dealing effectively with issues of the past, it will also contribute to BiH’s progress in Euro-Atlantic integration.
Through the Justice Report BIRN connects the judiciary, governments, political parties, the civil society and the media with the aim of reaching the varied communities of BiH and ensuring its citizens understand the work being done in the field of justice and their rights and benefits from these processes. The project also include training and educating journalists, students and NGOs from different countries and improvement of dialogue between the media and the judiciary through its Association of Court Reporters.
