The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS)

KS (Kommunenes Sentralforbund) is a Norwegian employers’ and interest organisation for municipalities, counties and local public enterprises in Norway. For the past years the organisation has been involved in different projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, all financed by the Norwegian Government.

One of the projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina concern municipal international cooperation. Friendship municipalities between Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina are Orkdal – Mostar and Sund – Konjic. Several activities between these municipalities have taken place during the last years, Sund – Konjic focusing on business development and a day center for children with special needs in Konjic, and Orkdal – Mostar focusing on the educational sector (pre-school, ecological projects, anti-drugs).

Further, KS is involved in institutional cooperation with its sister organisation in the two entities, the ALVRS in Republika Srpska and SOGFBiH in the Federation. A councillor training programme and training of municipal staff are main activities.

Both the municipal cooperation and the capacity building of KS’s sister organisations in the entities of BiH will continue in 2007.
